Food in Art – Royal Ladies at Table

I recently had a book called Food in Art by Gillian Riley out from the library and it inspired me to post about a number of artworks featuring food.

Here there are 3 finely dressed ladies sitting on one side of a table under a canopy.  On another table sit a line of men.  And there 6 male servers plus 3 trumpeters in a gallery.  And we can't forget the dog!

This picture is from an illuminated manuscript done in the 15^th century.  I don't know who the royals are but guess that the one in the middle is the highest ranked (despite having no necklace)
