To mark the passing of this great lady, I have picked
some facts about her which you may or may not know:
After 1984 Aretha only performed in North America – she
had developed a fear of flying.
She had 4 sons – the first one, amazingly, when she was
only 12 years old! And the second at
14! How strong a woman to become a star
with that start in life.
Her father was shot in his Detroit home and died after
being in a lengthy coma.
I always thought she was Whitney Houston's aunt – but in
fact she was an honorary aunt.
She was awarded honorary degrees from 13 different
universities!
She was in 7 films including the fabulous The Blues Brothers
At the 1998 Grammy's she sang Nessun Dorma in place of
Pavarotti – wow, not many popular singers can sing opera.
Finishing with something everyone knows – her fabulous
hits including – RESPECT, Chain of
Fools, Natural Woman and I Say a Little Prayer.
