Divergent by Veronica Roth

Given that I may be just about the last reader on the planet to have read Divergent, I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in what I thought about it.

I enjoyed this book much more than I expected to.  It is my first foray into dystopia  which I have always assumed to be a bit like science fiction – an acquired taste.

The plot is a cracking one … never a dull moment.  There is a lot of violence in the book – which means I won't be watching the movie.

The future world is not over explained … You just gather things as the story is developing.  I guess the bottom line is that I have now ordered the next one in the trilogy.

I was surprised to find this was classed as a teen read – given the violence in it – but maybe teen reads are different now from when I was a teenager… when was that again???

  1. I for one am interested in your thoughts on this one. You nailed it. Welcome to dystopia! And yes, teen reads are very different now.
