What Cancer Taught Me by Jake Bailey

Many of you may not be able to get this book but I thought I'd tell you about it anyway.  Jake Bailey is a young Kiwi who got a devastating diagnosis just days before the end of the high school year.  He was the Head Boy and as such was due to speak at Prize Giving.

His speech became an international sensation.  You can watch it here.

After his recovery I heard Jake speak at a conference and was really strongly struck by his outlook on life.  One of the things he said was that each morning when he wakes up he thinks 'I'm not dead – it's a good day'.

His book is not a work of art – but it is sincere and honest and is intended to help those facing life threatening illness and their families and friends.
