Slow Cooker chicken (No added liquid)

Carole's Chatter: Slow Cooker Chicken - no added liquid

This Slow Cooker Chicken was very simple to do.  The flavour was a bit bland (and the chicken tasted a tad fatty) but it is a very good starting point.

I just oiled the slow cooker.  Then seasoned my chicken pieces (skin on bone in) on both sides with a mixture of salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, turmeric, cumin, ground coriander and ground ginger.

Then pop the pieces into your slow cooker in one layer – skin side up.

And that's it – no added liquid at all.

Cook on low for about 6 hours.  Next time I wouldn't seal the slow cooker with foil under the lid – this meant that there was quite a bit of liquid in the slow cooker at the end.  I'd also just use salt and pepper and maybe some turmeric since the other flavours didn't really come through.

This chicken was very nice eaten cold the next day.

  1. I think I may try this! I would like to wake up on a luncheon day to an already cooked chicken that I could make chicken salad with. Thanks!
