Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day by Winifred Watson

First, a thank you to Ava Reviews for drawing my attention to this book by linking it in to a Books You Loved.  This is the second book with 'Pettigrew' in the title that I have read – the first was Major Pettigrew's Last Stand – another good read.

Ava said 'Here is a delicious, charming little book that is such a keeper. I enjoyed the lovely drawings.' I couldn't agree more.  Part of its charm is that it was written in 1938 – it captures the spirit of those times very well.

I won't spoil the story for you – but the heroine is a genteel slightly down at heel woman who gets drawn into racy high society – quite by chance.  It takes place over a 24 hour period.

The book is a bit naughty in places, which is also fun.
