Life From Scratch by Sasha Martin

Life From Scratch is a memoir.  It was a riveting read and I recommend it to you.  The things that I really liked were:

·         Despite what was a difficult childhood Sasha manages to describe it without a shred of sentimentality
·         Her parents are talked about honestly and in a spirit of reconciliation
·         She started a food blog called Global Table Adventure where she cooked her way around the world alphabetically – one country each week – it took 4 years
·         She includes  a recipe at the end of most chapters

I agree with the blurb on the cover that this book is 'poignant and uplifting'.  Thanks to Bay State Reader's Advisory for her review which led me to this book.

To see what other books I have liked just visit my Books tab at the top of the page.  It is a bit of a work in progress but the books I have reviewed over the last few months are there as well as a list of books I have read but chosen not to review.
