Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh

I almost didn't post about Hyperbole and a Half – since my policy is only to post about books that I really enjoyed.  But one thing persuaded me that I needed to share this book with you.

Pros

·         It is  written by a blogger – her blog has the same name
·         Parts of the book are very funny indeed – and will be particularly so for dog owners
·         The sections dealing with the author's experience of depression were searingly honest and also a must read for anyone dealing with a depressed person – quite a revelation to me
·         The book is colourful and a quick read

Cons

·         Bad words starting with F and M are sprinkled right through the book – they jarred a bit with me
·         The drawings look like they are done by a small child – not particularly attractive

  1. I almost didn't post a blog about a book today! So we are on the same page as it were. I am about to post my piece and thanks for giving me courage. I don't think we have to like everything we read and it is alright to say so. Kudos to you.

  2. Thanks for the review of this book. I had seen it recently in an online article and had added it to my ever growing reading wishlist... But am now on the fence about reading this book.

  3. The primitive nature of the drawings is kind of the point. I don't think you understand this blogger at all, and your use of the phrase "bad words" makes me question your maturity.

  4. I loved this book, but I recognise it's not to everyone's tastes. She often re-draws her artwork more than 20 times to get it right.
