Joy For Beginners by Erica Bauermeister

I have read a book by Erica Bauermeister before (The School of Essential Ingredients). So when I was browsing in the library and saw Joy for Beginners I was reasonably confident it would be worth reading.

And so it was.  I enjoyed it enormously.  The premise was interesting.  A group of friends who had supported one of their number through cancer treatment come together for a dinner and the cancer survivor gives each of them a challenge to complete by the end of the year.

The challenges were interesting – learn to make bread, clear out an ex'es books, do a 3 day walk, getting a tattoo amongst others.

It was a sympathetic and empathetic read – which in turns had me inspired and a bit emotional.  Recommended.

  1. Thanks for the review of Joy For Beginners by Erica Bauermeister. I too read The School of Essential Ingredients and loved it. I currently have The Lost Art of Mixing by Erica Bauermeister still sitting on my tbr shelf for far too long than I care to admit. Perhaps I should move it up on my reading list. :-)
