My Kitchen Year by Ruth Reichl

I ordered My Kitchen Year by Ruth Reichl because I had read and enjoyed her novel Delicious.  This book is not a novel – it is a cross between a memoir of one year plus some delicious recipes.

The subtitle is '136 Recipes that Saved My Life'.  Reichl was editor of Gourmet magazine which was suddenly closed down by its owners.  The book is about the year that immediately followed and how cooking and food helped her through it.

This book is well written, features a lot of food and some great recipes.  What's not to love!  Read this book but be warned you may get hungry!

  2. Sounds like a good one, part memoir and part cookbook. I love Ruth Reichl.
