A Cooking tip



Just add a pinch of bicarbonate of soda  (baking soda) in your salted  cooking water to keep the vegetable colours brilliant – just a tiny pinch otherwise your vegetables will go soft. 

The reason it works is that it makes the water alkaline which helps preserve the colour.
