Books You Loved: June Edition

It's the first Wednesday in the month again – how fast the year is flying by.  So, it's Books You Loved time.

Books You Loved: May had almost 70 books linked in.  Some reviews that caught my eye were:

Barbara from Stray Thoughts brought us a review of Being Mortal by Atul Gawande. I also thought this book was great and agree with Barbara when she says ' if you plan on getting old or dying or helping a parent as they age, you need to read this book.'

Thank you to Marci of Stone Cottage Adventures for reminding us about The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society.  Marci says 'I laughed.  I cried.  I wanted to hug everyone in this heartwarming tale as they build new lives after the devastation of World War II.  This is definitely one of my new all-time-ever, favorite books.'

Marianne of Let's Read reviewed Ken Follett's Fall of Giants.  She said 'What a book. And it's only the beginning of a trilogy. From the coal mines of Wales to the communists in Russia, from the English to the German aristocracy, from the American president to the Russian Tsar, we can see from the poor and thee rich in all these countries, how World War I happened.'

Melissa of Chick Lit Central brought a review of The Balance Project by Susie Orman Schnall. Melissa says 'Utterly compelling and impossible to put down, The Balance Project speaks volumes about how important it is for women at any stage of life to find realistic and meaningful balance.'

I love Paris so Bridges of Paris by Michael Saint James was definitely one for me.  Thank you Annette of Impressions in Ink for your review. She says 'Bridges of Paris is a visually stunning photography book and is an excellent choice for a Paris lover. '

Finally for everyone upset with their clutter, Guiltless Reading brought us The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo.  I'm waiting on this one from the library.
The review says 'This book is simple, deceptively simple. While touted as tidying or decluttering book, the heart of this book is about changing one's attitude and relationship to the things one owns.'

Now for the new collection.  Remember the post doesn't have to be a recent one and the book doesn't have to have been recently published or read.  The only requirement is that it is about a book that you loved.

To add to the list just pop the name of the book (and your name/blog name if you like) into the first Mr Linky box and then copy and paste the url of your post about it into the second box.

I'll be pinning your links to this Pinboard to make it easier for you to check them out at a glance.

Have fun.  I hope you discover some great books to read – I always do!

  2. Carole, I'm having trouble adding in my link. It keeps reverting back to my old one. Sorry. I don't know if you can delete that old one or not but I'll try again later to add my new ones.

  7. I LOVED The Secret Life of Violet Grant. I have a giveaway going on too until June 5 if you want to stop by.

I received Annie Barrows newest book at the BEA last week. I loved Guernsey. I am sure her new book is quite good.

  9. Well, I have managed to push the May list over 70 for you, Carole! lol!!! My daughter celebrated her birthday on Monday, June 1st, so we were both recovering from all the festivities. That's the reason I'm slightly late posting my Favorite Book For May. I'll see you later in the month with my link for June. Thank you so much, Carole! ;)
