Nostalgia alert!

Salad dressing made with condensed milk

In the 1970's the most common salad dressing was one made with condensed milk.  I really need to try it sometime – although I suspect it would now be a bit sweet for me.

The traditional ingredients were:

1 can of sweetened condensed milk
½ teaspoon of salt
1 cup malt vinegar
1 teaspoon of mustard

You just beat all this together and leave it to sit for a few minutes before using.

Only 4 ingredients!  No pepper!

  1. Hi, Carole! Somehow this recipe missed us in Canada. We mostly used sweetened condensed milk to make quick cheesecakes and other desserts.
