Chateau du Lannuguy – Morlaix in Brittany

Chateau du Lannuguy – Morlaix in Brittany

I can recommend Chateau du Lannuguy to you as a comfortable and very interesting place to stay near Morlaix in Brittany.  It is a B&B (or as the French call them Chambres d'Hotes).  This means that you are staying in the owner's house (in a room with a bathroom) and breakfast is also provided.

In this case the house was in fact quite a large chateau – and the owners only had 3 rooms that they let out.  For most of the nights we were there we were the only guests.

Our room
We were in a room on the second floor (next floor up from ground floor) – the room was a good size and the bed large and comfortable.  The bathroom worked well and was so cute since it was in one of the turrets and also had fabulous old fittings.

We definitely found that staying in this type of accommodation is quite different from hotel accommodation.  You become personally engaged with the owners (who were very nice) and they give you advice as to what to see and do and ask you about your day.

The breakfast room

Breakfast was simple but of very high quality.  Great French pastries and breads, home-made jam and good coffee.  The breakfast room was very large – you felt really special eating there.

As you have seen the chateau is in a beautiful quiet setting.  The river is across the road but was mostly dry when we were there.  Apparently the river is very tidal.

But that was quite unimportant with all the great things about the chateau – including the very reasonable price!

The chateau has a swimming pool – but we didn't use it.  Our hostess, Josiane, showed us her enormous and fantastic garden including a large glass house behind an old tennis court.

The chateau is about 4 kilometers out of Morlaix so a rental car is pretty much essential.

We discovered Chateau du Lannuguy quite by accident after considering what felt like hundreds of other places in Brittany, so we were very lucky to have stayed there.
