Remembering John Lennon

There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

The world lost John Lennon on the 8th of December 1980.  He was then just 40 years old. His ashes were scattered at what is now the Strawberry Fields Memorial in Central Park, New York.

As, I imagine almost everyone knows, he became famous as a member of the Beatles.  But he also wrote some fabulous stuff after the Beatles disbanded – like Give Peace a Chance.

Lennon also shares a birthday with one of my sisters – the 9th of October.  Only the best are born on that date, I'm sure.

Liverpool renamed its airport after him – quite a tribute when other Beatles came from there too.

Some of the most famous songs that he wrote are:

All You Need is Love
Come Together
Eight Days a Week
Give Peace a Chance
I Saw Her Standing There
Imagine
In My Life
She Loves You
Strawberry Fields Forever

In my life is a fave of mine – here is a YouTube clip of it being performed by Ed Sheeran.

  4. I will remember where I was when I learned of his passing..Sad day indeed, I adored his songs, I sing them in my head all the time..Give Peace A Chance is a favorite and of course All You Need is Love and Imagine..I do remember when George Harrison left our world a gentle soul too..Why is it the greats die young and or are taken from us, when it seems to me in my opinion many who are rude and crude and terrible human beings live on for years and years and years, I believe in Karma and when it is your time to leave this human life your spirit goes peacefully and those that loved you have you in their hearts forever..I love my mom young I always think of her in my heart and soul and head at the holidays as she was such a loving and beautiful human being and shared and cared for all human beings, she loved life and I feel she got cheated I too, I was a wee one and miss her each and everyday, today is one of my former roomates 66th birthday and I well remember how much she loved John Lennon, time flies fast in one's life I say make it loving and happy each and everyday..ciao!
