I was in
two minds whether to recommend Essentialism:
The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown to you. On one hand the ideas in it are very
important in today's busy and connected world.
One the other hand I didn't feel that the writing was all that
fantastic.
This is not
an anti material things book. It's about
getting people to focus on what is really important to them and then cutting
out what is not essential.
If the
author had cut out the non essential from his book, it would have been a much
shorter book! Ironic given his thesis.
I did get
some good ideas from the book. And if
you struggle with multiple demands on your time and feel tired and/or stressed
out a lot of the time – this book might be just what you need.
Thanks to Books
on the Table who linked this up to Books
You Loved so I found out about it.
