How to peel ginger

A chef on television said that the best way to peel fresh ginger was with the edge of a teaspoon.  So I had to give it a try – and it worked!  Not only did it peel more easily, it didn't cut as much off so you are not wasting that precious ginger!
Another way to do it if you are wanting very fine ginger to put into a dish is just to grate it on a microplane without peeling it at all.  You can do this with either fresh or frozen ginger.

  2. I have to give that a go: I seem to waste so much with a knife.

  3. I used to do this, then I discovered frozen chopped ginger which is awesome!
