Food on Friday: Retro Food from the 70's

ON

Now I know not all of you were around in the 70's or remember the food from that era.  For this Food on Friday we are going to go retro – I'm not going to fuss about exactly which decade the dish was fashionable.  I'm thinking of dishes like Chicken in a Basket, Steak Diane and Surf & Turf to name just a few.
I'll be pinning the links to this Pinboard to make it easy for you to see them all at a glance.

To add your retro dishes just pop your name and the name of the dish into the first Mr Linky box and paste the url of your  post about it into the second one.
Have fun!

  4. The 70s (oh boy do I remember them) was when we were first introduced to crock pots--sorry I didn't save my oldie with the psychedellic design--and here's the classic crock pot dish--pot roast

  5. I thought some retro food might need a retro drink to wash it down. Cheers!

  10. Hi, Carole,
The 1960s Co-Op Refrigerator Cheesecake (#14) was a regular dessert item in Winnipeg, Canada.
It was on the local producer's milk carton and people here still make it. Enjoy!!

  11. A 60s favourite, although junky, was the Cherry Cheesecake I posted. The "-O-" is mandatory in the name! I still love it...

  12. Carole, Belgian waffles were all the rage in the 1970s. I remember we had one you used on the stovetop, flipping it over to cook on both sides. Today I use an electric one!

  15. Hi Carole! I'm a child of the 60s and remember a product called "Shake A Puddin" which was a miracle to us as Jello pudding was cooked on the stove. I linked up a custard recipe from Spain called natillas in remembrance of evenings spent furiously shaking a waxed container to make pudding.
