Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind

Amazingly enough the classic song
Layla was
not successful when it was first released – it was many years before the true
merits of the track were realised. One
of its problems was that the track was 7 minutes long which was very very long
indeed by the standards of the early 1970's.
Eric
Clapton co-wrote the song with Jim Gordon.
Who
will ever forget the unplugged version?
I had the fortune of seeing Eric Clapton in concert at the Yale Bowl in New Haven back in the early 70's. He put on an incredible concert. We left after 2 hours and folks said he played another 1 1/2 hours! When he played Layla so many people stormed the stage and he had to BEG them to step back. Unforgettable performance by a master guitarist and all around musician. Glad he is still around.
ReplyDeleteI like the whole Clapton Unplugged CD. This is a good song.
ReplyDeleteLove love love Eric Clapton.

One of his best! I'm envious of Patty having seen him live!
