Gweilo: Memories of a Hong Kong Childhood by Martin Booth

Gweilo by Martin Booth

I don't read all that many memoirs but I'm glad I read Gweilo by Martin Booth.

The author unfortunately died not long after finishing the book and so didn't have time to revel in its success.

The book is well written in a chatty, often amusing style and certainly evokes the atmosphere of Hong Kong in the 1950's.  If you read it, you won't regret it!
