Books You Loved - September

Before getting on to the new collection of Books You Loved, here are some that caught my eye from last month:

The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro was reviewed by guiltless reading.  Aloi said 'This is a gorgeous book all around. Historical fiction buff, you'll be immersed in 1920s New York and 1950s Paris. Sensualist, you'll revel in the descriptions of scents and their intimate power to transport you in time and place. Story lover, you'll discover how the lives of these seemingly totally different women are entwined. A story to savour languidly.'

The Lost Art of Mixing by Erica Bauermeister was reviewed by Chaos Theory.  Courtney said 'Food, friendship, and love go hand-in-hand so often and that's exactly what Bauermeister delivers in this novel'

The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty was reviewed by Silver's Reviews.  Elizabeth said that the book 'is an excellent read that will keep you pondering life, pondering the decisions we make, and thinking about the secrets most of us have.'

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte was reviewed by The Yellow-Haired Reviewer.  Jessica said that it 'is my favourite book. Jane is an excellent role model, and as we watch her difficult life unfold, we cannot help but admire her strength, dignity and wisdom.'

Old Friends and New Fancies by Sybil G Brinton was the very first Jane Austen sequel.  It was reviewed by Diary of an Eccentric.  Anna said 'Sybil G. Brinton manages to believably bring together characters from all six of Austen’s novels to create happily-ever-afters for several secondary characters.'

The Tudor Conspiracy by CW Gortner was reviewed by Enchanted by Josephine.  The review said 'This book will leave you totally satisfied but with a lingering need to read more.'

If you would like to see the books in last month's collection, just click through to the original post or the Pinboard I made for them.  There are lots of books there to suit many different tastes.

Now on to the new collection.  Linking your post in is easy.  Just put your name and the name of the book into the first Mr Linky box and paste the url for your post into the second one.

There are no rules for this link up.  It just has to be a post about a book you loved! You don't have to grab a button (I don't have one for BYL anyway!) and you don't have to visit a specific number of other links.

If you would like to check out some of the other books, you might like to go to this Pinboard  I have made up for them.  It will let you see the links at a glance and should help you to decide which ones to visit.

  1. Great collection. I read One Tiny Lie back in June and LOVED it. I recently listened to it on audio and it reminded me of how fabulous I think it is.

  14. My favorite book that I've read in the last month is How the Light Gets In by Louise Penny. It is her ninth book in her Armand Gamache mystery series. It is a lovely book, as all of the books in the series are. Newcomers, though, should really read the series from the beginning.

As for me, I've been reading some really great books, and at least two are in the running for my 'Best Book of the Month'. I'll be back later on in the month and will link up my choice - see you then! :)

  27. I'm a bit late to the party this month. Ice Road is a family saga set in Soviet Leningrad, it's brutal but unforgettable.
