Driving over Lemons: An Optimist in
Andalucia is
a travel book by Chris Stewart. It was
published in 1999. The writer was a drummer for Genesis until he retired from
that at 17 and made a complete change to
become a sheep shearer and travel writer.
The
book is a very engaging look at life on a very remote mountain farm in
Andalucia in Spain. They started out with no electricity, running water or road
access.
I
re-read it just recently, and it was just as good to read as the first time
around – which you can't say for all books.
The author takes the mickey out of himself with great panache.
The
book won't make you want to live there – but you won't regret the time you
spent reading it either.
