Miro was a Spanish artist born towards the end of the 19^th century who had a long and prolific career being the grand old age of 90 when he died in 1983.  He was a great friend of Picasso's.

He was an innovative artist who struggled with some demons along the way.  While he started out as a realist painter he became Surrealist to abstract later on.
