ON
When
I was a child the things we had growing in the garden included silverbeet,
rhubarb, feijoas and guavas. So we ate
today's ingredient for Food on Friday - Rhubarb
– quite often.
Rhubarb goes with:
Almonds
|
Apples
|
Blueberries
|
Butter
|
Cinnamon
|
Ginger
|
Hazelnuts
|
Honey
|
Pastry
|
Plums
|
Pork
|
Raspberries
|
Rosewater
|
Salmon
|
Soft
white cheeses
|
Strawberries
|
Sugar
|
Trout
|
Vanilla
|
Yoghurt
|
I
am looking forward to seeing how you use rhubarb in your dishes. Please just link them up via Mr Linky below. The best thing is to put your name plus the name of the dish in the first
box and copy the url for your post into the second.
Have
fun!
I've never made anything with rhubarb so I am looking forward to this week's roundup of recipes. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMmm, I love Rhubarb! I grew up just dipping it in sugar and eating raw. So yummy!! Now I turn it into strawberry rhubarb pie and strawberry rhubarb jam.
ReplyDeletemy favorite ingredient! I'm coming to link my recipes....
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny, your email came in right after I'd posted the Rhubarb Frangipane Tart! I have quite a few Rhubarb recipes on my blog if anyone is interested just use the search box
ReplyDeleteI love rhubarb, I just can't get enough.
ReplyDeleteRhubarb recipes I can do! Well, my blog isn't called Jenny Eatwell's Rhubarb & Ginger for nothing. :D I've brought a selection of savoury and sweet recipes, plus a chutney and a jam. :) I've just made a Rhubarb & Ginger Pie that was rather luscious too - so watch out on the blog for it appearing very soon. :)
ReplyDeleteSpring and rhubarb just go together...well, along with a strawberry or two...I am bringing a Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble to the party! Thank you for hosting, Carole!
ReplyDeleteHmm just had rhubarb for the first time this year from our plot, we had it with Creme Fresh (sp) and it was delicious
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and I am glad you liked the recipe for the Strawberry Rhubarb pie I made. I love to use rhubarb this time of year. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteHi Carole, thanks for your reminder about linking up to your parties, I love rhubarb so I took the time to join today - but then I noticed that lots of people posted strawberry-rhubarb pie, it's a lot more popular than I realised! Mine is very yummy and custardy though...
ReplyDeleteFantastic theme this week, super love rhubarb!!
ReplyDeleteI just linked my Quick Rhubarb cake up! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Rhubarb - can't wait to see all the results! Thanks for hosting.

i may be all set to eat rhubarb, but it's growing on the shady side of my yard and it has just sprouted from the ground.
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking out by blog, I've linked in my Rhubarb Jam recipe - enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHi Carole, I left a link for rhubarb cobbler - it's a good one. Looking forward to browsing the other rhubarb recipes :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting in touch Carole, I look forward to finding other fellow bloggers and interesting things on your blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Thanks for the opportunity to link up and can't wait to check out these other recipes.
ReplyDeleteWhy aren't there any photos like with other linky parties? I think photos make it so much more interesting.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good question which I have thought about a lot. Because this is a themed link up and sometimes gets lots of links, thumbnails would make it very slow to load. I do pin the dishes to a special Pinboard as soon as I can and you can always look at them there - see the sidebar at the top for links to some of my pinboards and you can look for the board from there. thanks for raising this.
DeleteHi Carole! I've posted a buttermilk pudding with rhubarb and strawberry compote, looks like rhubarb + strawberries are a popular combination here!
ReplyDeleteJust one other thing, are you able to add a Name/URL commenting option? The only option I can really use here is the wordpress one, but that assumes that you have a wordpress.com domain.
You are a mind reader, Carole. I was just thinking about rhubarb, which will be late here in northern Wisconsin this year, I would bet. We have two patches, and we always freeze a few bags for winter use.

Hi Carole - I've snuck 2 posts in this week. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteRhubarb has always been one of my favorite fruits (- or vegetable to be precise). I love it's sharpness - not too sweet and was searching for it this spring, just waiting to see it for sale! I'm so glad it is now the season! And now I can check out all the recipes here too. Thanks Carole
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole, have linked my first attempt at Rhubarb and Custard tart from my French Village Kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI adore cooking with rhubarb as its tanginess is brilliant in so many combinations. My post is on a coconut and rhubarb upside down cake that uses coconut flour to make it a gluten free dessert.
ReplyDeleteWe're just in the process of building a new big veg patch and I can't wait to start growing some fresh rhubarb in my garden! I also love the idea of this post as It's been lovely to read some wonderful other rhubarb recipes. Katie x

I love rhubarb...sadly, mine did not come up this year. I think our dry summer last year killed it off. But I look forward to buying it at the farmer's market this summer! I have linked up a really cool Jamie Oliver rhubarb & custard souffle recipe that was a big hit when I made it.
ReplyDeleteHi Carole, thanks for the message. I put my link in, but forgot the name of my dish: Rhubarb Meringue Pie
ReplyDeleteI love rhubarb, pink and delicious! Thank you for popping by, it's a delight to share my yummy cupcakes. My favourite Rhubarb pairing is ginger, with lashing of custard!
ReplyDeleteI adore rhubarb! We've had a late start to spring here in Minnesota but I'm going to play catch up with some of these recipes.
ReplyDeleteCarole, thanks for inviting me to link-up my post for the Rhubarb Cordial and Rhubarb Almond Bundt - this is a fabulous theme and there are so many wonderful links to look at! I will take the time to look at all of them this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by and for the heads up. I've linked up my Rhubarb Crumble with Amaretti topping.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun thing you're doing! I have friends who go to a farm and do "all-you-can-pick" rhubarb outings, and I'll have to tell them about your site.
