I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again
It's
only reasonably recently that I have got to know James Taylor's music a little better – I went to a concert he did
with Carole King to see her and got him as a bonus.
For
me Fire & Rain is a super song. It was his breakthrough number which was
followed by the major song You've Got a Friend – which Carole King wrote. Fire & Rain is Number 227 on Rolling
Stone Magazines Top 500 of all time.
James
Taylor was born on 12 March 1948 – so it is almost his 65th
birthday. Chorus of Happy Birthday all
round.

The older generation of music seems to have a lot more staying power, then what is being played in the present. It is great that older music, is not forgotten.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carole. This song brings back great memories. My college roommate was a huge James Taylor fan. She introduced me to his music. We'd sit around our room belting out this tune--badly...but it was fun!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your "discovery" of James and his music. Both he and Carole are long time favorites of mine. Between them, they have literally sung my life - and I suspect the lives of a lot of my and their generation.
ReplyDeleteJames Taylor has always been one of my favourites. It's wonderful to know that there are still people out there who discover and love him just as much. And, of course, anyone who loves James has to love Carole and the other way around.
