Welcome
to the new edition of Books You Loved. Can you believe it is March already?
Before
getting to the link up, here are my choices of links from the last edition to
showcase for you.
Thanks to Tammy's Book Parlor for her review of the French Twist series by Sandra Byrd – love books that are funny as well as interesting. Tammy says "This is great chick lit and all about cake with some great coffee! I loved this book!"
Rebecca from The Keys to the Gate brought us her review of The Twelve Tribes of Hattie by Ayana Mathis. Rebecca says "Each chapter stands alone yet ties into the next, creating a portrait of a family struggling to survive in a changing America. The writing is exquisite. The character development is powerful with each strong enough to lead separate novels." Sounds a goodie!
Historical fiction for you reviewed by Unabridged Chick with Parlor Games by
Maryka Biaggio. Audra says "I
just loved this book. Loved, loved, loved. It was flippant and fun, total
escapism, with a minxy heroine I adored from the first page, a long list of
exotic locales to divert, and piles of dramatic intrigue to keep me engaged"
Melissa
from Chick Lit Central brought us
her review of Talli Roland's The Pollyanna Plan. I agree with her when she says
"Aside from the romantic plot, there is also a story line
involving Emma's family, which I found captivating. I even became emotional
over it at one point, as her mother and sister seemed so real."
Great kid's book – thanks to Jo Ann from Journey of a Bookseller for her review
of Mine! She says "This is one of the most delightful children's picture books I've
read in a long while. The story and the illustrations make this book special!"
Lastly an old fave: Gillion of Rose
City Reader did
a review of Wally Lamb's She's Come Undone.
She says "The
glory of Lamb’s story is that he makes it absolutely believable, no matter how
awful or statistically improbable."
There

Thanks for hosting, Carole! So much fun to find out about other great books. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Carole,
ReplyDeleteGreat forum, as usual, for us book lovers to post our favorites. Thanks.
Thanks so much for this link up! I had to post two because I JUST couldn't pick one :)
ReplyDeleteI love Poison enough to preorder a hardcover for my personal library. It's a great fantasy tale.
ReplyDeleteWonderful entries, as usual. My favourite this month "The Return" by Victoria Hislop. Thanks for getting us all together.
ReplyDeleteKeep this going, Carole!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I did wrong this month, the title of my book doesn't show up. But the link works. That's a progress. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI gave you links to two books again this month because I couldn't possibly choose between them: Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter by Tom Franklin and A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan, both excellent books and highly recommended to your readers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link up Carole - my pick was 'Perks of being a wallflower' loved it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting another great selection.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carole, for allowing me to post Mel Comley's A Time For Romance! It's a boxed set of two romances for one low price. I don't know how long it will be on sale, but I enjoyed both books.
ReplyDeleteOoh, it's hard, but I think I have to go with The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson. Finding Cherokee Brown by Siobhan Curham comes a close second, though! http://what-should-i-read-next.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/finding-cherokee-brown.html
ReplyDeleteCarole, I just posted a review given by a blogger of the 3rd book in my Single Daddy Club series, The Single Daddy Club: Reece. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hat tip! I really enjoyed She's Come Undone. But this month I read one that may be my favorite book of the year -- The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes. Wow!
ReplyDeleteRose City Reader

ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this each month, Carole!
I just posted a link for the book Leaning In! This book set my heart on fire.....
ReplyDeleteI see three in this list I read and liked too: Divergent, Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter and Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and letting me know about this! I can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteHello Carole,
ReplyDeleteSo far this month, while I have been reading some really good books, they've just not been A+!, "stop the presses", "shout it from the rooftops" Book of the Month material for me, as yet. Anyway, it has also been a rather slow reading month with my reading three books (I'm going to finish reading "Audition: A Memoir" by Barbara Walters tonight) in total.
I do believe that "Audition: A Memoir" by Barbara Walters is going to be my Book of the Month. At 579 pages, it's taken me nine days to read this book - which is by far the longest period of time ever spent reading a book for me! :) I'm enjoying reading the book, so I'm not worried at all, but I'll link up my review later. :)
Thanks so much, Carole! :)
Hey everyone! First time linking and it had to be The Snow Child. Best book I've read in years and so much sobbing and emotion was involved. Just fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHello again, Carole,
ReplyDeleteMake that ten days! :) I finished reading "Audition: A Memoir" by Barbara Walters at five minutes past midnight on March 18th. Great book! See you next month, Carole! :)
