Bennie and the Jets was glam rock.  It has a huge hook and went to #1 in the R&B charts – a place where Elton hadn’t been.  The track first appeared on the double LP Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.  Axl Rose of Guns n Roses says that it was this track that inspired him to become a singer.
