Flag of the week: Macedonia
Macedonia used to be part of
Yugoslavia. This flag was adopted after
Macedonia became independent in 1992.
The emblem on this flag is based on the Star of Vergina which is said to
have derived originally from a decoration on the gold coffin of the father of
Alexander the Great. The star in the
centre was changed to a sun after a diplomatic tussle with Greece.
I really like this flag! I think it's pretty and I love the graphic.
