Flag of the week: Italy
You
may have thought that the design of Italy's
flag is very similar to France's one – and you would be right. It was based on the French flag. It went to this form (ie with no coat of arms
in the middle) in 1946 when Italy became a Republic
To be honest, I always thought Italy's flag was very similar to Ireland.

So the current flag is as recent as 1946? That's so interesting, I'd have assumed they'd had the same flag forever.
