Food on Friday – Onions

ON

There'll be tears before sundown all over the place as you try out dishes from this Food on Friday.  Yes, it's about Onions.

Onions go well with:

Barbecued meat
Bay leaves
Bread
Butter
Cheese
Cream
Eggs
Garlic
Milk
Olive oil
Olives
Pastry
Potatoes
Roasted meat
Rosemary
Sausages
Stews
Tomatoes
Wine

Spring onions (or scallions) go well with

Asparagus
Bean curd
Beef
Chicken
Fish
Garlic
Ginger
Noodles
Pork
Rice
Shellfish
Soy sauce

Thanks to Stephanie Alexander for these lists.

Just link in using the Mr Linky boxes below.  I know the first box just says Your Name – but don't worry about that – the best thing is to put in your name and the name of the dish you are linking in into that box.

I don't believe in complicated rules for link ups.  It would be nice if you visited some of the links and left comments.  You will get some good ideas about onions for sure!

Happy linking.

  14. The mirepoix of Indian non-vegetarian dishes are onions, ginger and garlic of which onions make up the larger portion. It adds sweetness when it's cooked long and slow. Thanks for hosting this collection of intriguing recipes.
