Don Driver was a New Zealand artist
– mostly doing work as a sculptor but it is his "paintings" or
assemblages that I really like. Before
doing art full time Driver worked as a dental technician.
Driver
made an extended visit to the US in 1965 – which at that time he said was
leading the world in art.
This
work Zig Zag was produced
immediately following that trip. It is a
purely abstract piece – a sort of collage.
He
was an artist who didn't take himself too seriously. He had a quirky sense of fun.
Don
unfortunately died on 8 December 2011
