Bazille

I think that this painting by Bazille is just so wonderful – especially the light on the town and how about that dress.  He painted The Pink Dress when he was only 25 years old.  The subject was his cousin.

Unfortunately for him and for art, he was killed in the Franco-Prussian war in 1870 at the age of 29.  His good friend Monet went on to be very famous indeed.
