Flag of the Week – Brazil
Brazil was declared
independent of Portugal in 1822 and the colours in this flag date back to
then. The green stands for the rain
forests and the yellow for its mineral resources. The sphere shows the stars over Rio and
represent the States in Brazil. The
words in the middle mean Order and Progress.
One of our good friends married a young gal from Sao Paulo...easily one of the nicest people I've ever met, and her family too (who comes to visit often when they're permitted).
