1 November- Solution for the last clue and the next cryptic crossword clue

Loose-limbed, Italian ambassador after end of drill (5)

Solution – lithe

Lithe = loose-limbed.  This is a bit of a stretchy solution in that I think lithe means flexible and supple.

But you know it is the right solution because you can get to there from the second half of the clue.

You put something meaning "Italian ambassador" after "end of drill"

So the end of "drill" = l

Italian = It (abbreviation)

Ambassador = HE (abbreviation for His or Her Excellency)

L + it + he = lithe

Today’s cryptic crossword clue solution tomorrow

Fixation of old boys at meeting (9)
Source of clue – NZ Herald

Hint - an abbreviation for 'old boys' is part of the solution
