The
second of October 1869 was the birthday of that famous man – Mahatma Ghandi. It is a national holiday in India. His principles of non-violent civil disobedience
were incredibly effective. Winston
Churchill was most unimpressed. Like
Nelson Mandela, Ghandi spent some time in prison as a result of his activities
– but nowhere near as long! He was
assassinated in 1948.
