23 October - Solution for the last clue and the next cryptic crossword clue

Voice of Italian, one behind counter (8)

Solution – baritone

A baritone is a sort of singing voice – the deepest being bass, then baritone,  then tenor and then up into the female ranges of alto, contralto and soprano.

Italian = It

Counter = bar

The Italian is "behind" the counter so bar + it

One = one which is stuck on the end

Bar + it + one = baritone

Today’s cryptic crossword clue solution tomorrow

Duck taken from Grasmere cooked around noon (9)
Source of clue – NZ Herald

Hint - there is an anagram involved here which you find around an abbreviation for noon.
