Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi (Ce Soir)?
This has been described as the best single of the
70’s. It was a number one hit in 1975
and then again in 2001!
It is a story of a lady of the night and voodoo
queen. It was a hot track. It came back as a hit again as a result of
the film “Moulin Rouge”.
The title is French for "Do you want to go to bed
with me tonight? The funny thing is that
no one French would actually say that because "vous" is only used for
people you don't know well or are being formal with – which is hardly
applicable to this question! But I guess
the proper pronoun wouldn't have worked as well – Veux-tu coucher avec moi, ce
soir – anyone?
