Lovely ruined abbey in Lower Normandy




This ruined abbey L'Abbaye de Hambye is a good visit when in Normandy. It has a nice atmosphere and never seems to have too many people there since it is a little bit off the beaten track.

It was founded around 1145. It was a Benedictine monastery until the French Revolution after which it was actually used as a stone quarry for some time!

It is about 60k north of Mont St Michel - which is one of the must see things when visiting France.
