Simple cooking tip – cooking corn on the cob

I am happy to be corrected by all you experts out there, but I cook corn on the cob in 2 main ways.

The first is putting it in boiling water for 15 minutes – but no salt in the water please!

The second way is to roast it, husk and all, along with other vegetables.  Just soak the cob in water for a few minutes first so that the husk won't burn.  It sort of steams itself in the oven.  The only slight downside to this method is that you have to be careful when taking the husk off after cooking, not to burn yourself.  Roasting a cob takes about 30 minutes this way.

    1. I have never tried the microwave for corn - I really only do frozen peas in it - and defrosting.

    2. Microwaved corn on the cob done right in the husk; all the silks come completely off the cob when the husk is slipped off. Simple! Fast and tasty.

  3. I love roast corn (husk and all) on the grill. Also, steaming corn is pretty easy. Add a couple inches of water to a pot and set the corn on top of one of those metal steamers (that kids like to play with). bring to a boil, cover and cook for about 6 or so minutes.

  7. Love tips, espeically this one about corn. I'm wondering have you ever grilled it with the husk on? I'm tempted and wonder if you'd soak it first. Thanks for stopping by my blog

  8. Yummy :) I've never had the husk on mine when I've bought them. I love brushing mine with chilli olive oil, wrapping it in foil and then roasting - delicious! xx
