May Day

May Day is a Northern Hemisphere day celebrating spring.  In my part of the world, as we head firmly into winter, it doesn’t carry that connotation.  It has also been adopted by the union movement as a Workers’ Day.

  3. Happy May Day from England! (The day to celebrate May Day happens next Monday however, and is also apparently Labour Day but very few people know that!!) It was a pretty typical Spring Day ... after weeks of rain, the sun did attempt to come out and brighten us up a bit!! Typically when I left NZ the sun came out and you had your summer!! Not fair, but c'est la vie! It's DIA DEL TRABAJADOR (Day of the Worker) in Argentina where my other half is from. Isn't Labour day in NZ in October?? Out of touch Kiwi here!

    1. Yes, Labour Day is usually at the end of Oct. The weather has been spectacularly good for the last little while but it is getting cold in the mornings. Happy holiday for next Monday.
