Foreign Currency: Traps for the Unwary

When you are planning a trip – particularly out of New Zealand – don’t make the mistake of leaving your purchase of foreign currency until you are at the airport.  For instance the only outlet at the Auckland Airport charges very hefty commissions.

If you go to your own bank you may even find they don’t charge you any commission at all.

The other place I found to be a real rip off on my travels was the currency exchange booth in Paris at the Gare du Nord (when you are waiting to board the Eurostar).
