Brahms
was born on this day in 1833. If you
aren’t into heavy classical music you could try his Hungarian Dances. Light and fantastic. If you want to dip into deeper classical
waters, maybe start with his Symphony No 1 or his Piano Trio No 1 (which has
been mentioned as one of the top ten classical pieces of all time here
Brahms
was one of those amazing people that did lots of things well – including
composing music of course. He was a
voracious reader. But he didn’t manage a
settled personal life.
He
earned money playing piano from the age of 13.
He never married but had a long term, some say platonic, relationship
with Clara Schumann – wife of Schumann the composer and a composer and pianist
in her own right.
He
died of cancer at the age of 63.
