April Fool's Day

New Zealand’s most famous April Fool’s prank was in 1949 when a radio announcer told the nation that a mile wide wasp swarm had been seen heading its way to Auckland.  He advised people to wear socks outside their trousers and to make honey traps by their front doors.  And lots of them did.  When he reminded people some time later what date it was most people saw the funny side – apart from his bosses.  He ended up with a reprimand.
