Places in NZ I would like to visit Part IV: Otago Rail Trail

I understand most people start at the Clyde end and head to Middlemarch – something to do with the that you finish downhill that way.  Cycling on gravel is a bit tricky.  It takes 3-4 days to do the whole thing.  Perhaps given my age and level of fitness (sub zero) I need to look into doing just a section of it.  Apparently it is really busy in the summer so maybe mid to late March would be a good time to do it.

This book has been published to provide information for prospective cyclists - GUIDE TO THE CENTRAL OTAGO RAIL TRAIL by Gerald Cunningham

  1. I love the Central Otago Rail Trail. I raced it as a duathlon team with a friend (the race is in February over two days) and did sections of it for my 40th birthday with a group of friends. We visited all the pubs en route and stayed overnight at the Ranfurly Hotel. It was such a fun time - I thoroughly recommend it!
