Kiwifruit used to be mostly grown
in New Zealand although they are available all over the place now. In many countries they are just called kiwis –
which always makes me smile because in New Zealand a Kiwi is a New Zealander
and the name of our native bird.
When
I was a girl kiwifruit were called Chinese Gooseberries! Some marketing whiz thought up the new name.
Kiwifruit
look a bit funny on the outside with their brown fuzzy skin but the inside is
delicious whether they are the original green variety or the newer golden
variety.

The classic Kiwifruit pavlova or pav as we say |
We
use kiwifruit in fruit salads, on top of pavlova and even as a marinade to
tenderise meat. They are chock full of
Vitamin C. Apparently double that which
you find in an orange, would you believe!
And it has the same level of potassium as a banana but only half the
calories.
Thank you so much for sharing such an amazing dessert! I love kiwits in anything, even in salads. Thank you so much for visiting me sweet lady. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
