Portrait of a Young Woman |
Rembrandt
was
the most important Dutch master in history.
He was successful in his own lifetime but had a habit of living beyond
his means. He ended up being buried as a
pauper. Let that be a lesson to us all.
A Polish Nobleman |
But he left some very fine work. I have selected a handful to share with you.
Self portrait - one of many |
Many years ago I went to Amsterdam when there was a special Rembrandt exhibition. It was fabulous. Your post has brought back many happy memories, thank you
ReplyDeleteOn our last visit to our son in Amsterdam, we visitied the Rijksmuseum and I was lucky to see the "Night Watch" in real life. It was just fantastic.
