The President is Missing by James Patterson (and Bill Clinton)

I didn't have high hopes of this book but decided to read it because of novelty value.  But this book was a cracking read – except for the last chapter and the epilogue.

My guess is that the rest of the book was written by James Patterson (no doubt with some consultation) and that the last chapter (a speech by the President to both Houses of Congress) and the epilogue were written by the politician.  You don't need to read them to enjoy the book – they are completely superfluous.

So, don't get put off, it's a compulsively readable political/terrorist thriller – and I am sure it will make a good movie in due course.

  3. I've been eyeing this one at Walmart and wondering what the percentage break down of words written might be. Thanks for answering the question and for recommending it. It does sound compelling.
