Saturday Potpourri - a bit of this and that

The Copper Beeches in our area have now got their leaves and are a glorious sight and a reminder that summer is on its way.  These trees are not native to New Zealand but do seem to grow particularly well here.

Hokey pokey ice cream is so iconic in New Zealand that they made a stamp celebrating it.  It is vanilla ice cream with little pieces of a type of honeycomb through it.  I can't enlighten you on how it got its name – it is very much an NZ original.

They keep changing our money – and each new issue seems more garish and plasticky than the last – all in the name of increased security.  And somewhere along the way the Queen got lost….
