ON
I am not a
member of the slow food movement
although I do agree that taking the time to cook some things really slowly does
result in great flavour. This Food on Friday is collecting all sorts
of recipes that have only one thing in common – they require a long slow cook.
To add to
the collection, just pop your name and the name of the dish into the first Mr
Linky box and paste the url of your post about it into the second box.
I'll be
pinning the dishes to this Pinboard
- this will let you see the pinned dishes at a glance so you can choose which
ones you want to check out in more detail.
Happy slow
food, everyone!
Carole, I'm not a member of the slow food movement either. I bought a slow cooker and gave it away. I do have a small 6 qt Nesco roaster, but after using it a couple of times, I went back to the oven when I wanted a slow "roasted" meal, like pot roast or leg of lamb or lamb shanks. That is what a Dutch Oven is for.
ReplyDeleteWe've been trying some recipes that require a good amount of time. I shared our version of the artisan bread from Sullivan Street Bakery (NYC) and an at-home method of making pastrami. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHi Carole I love this old favourite slow cooked one pot dish using beef. It can be ready in 2 and a half hours of left in a slow cooker all day to come home to ! Nourishing and delicious for all the family.
ReplyDeleteThank you for always inviting me! I have lots of slow cooker recipes and this one is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteHey Carole! I also don't own a slow cooker, but this Hickory Smoked Pulled Pork is slow-cooked on a smoker...and it's my absolute favorite outdoor meal! (Too bad my smoker is still buried under a pile of snow right now...)
ReplyDeletehello Carole sorry i might have inter twice, but anyway i love to slow cook and have found some great stuff here today so thanks!
ReplyDeleteHey Carole, I love using my slow cooker. I shared my Crockpot Barley and Leek Risotto.
ReplyDeleteHI!! I use my slow cooker all the time. As a matter of fact I have dinner in there right now. I shared Spaghetti Squash and Meatballs. Only 3 ingredients!!!
ReplyDeleteCarole,
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't think muffins would qualify as a slow food, but I start my soaked oat muffins days ahead--even mixing up the buttermilk & oat base on Sunday nights for daily muffins through Friday! I've linked up my basic muffin recipe.
We all know that cookie dough is better after a day or two in the refrigerator--and so is pizza. I usually make my pizza dough on Wednesday for Friday Night Pizza night, so I've linked up my Pizza Primer.
I posted a 10-hour pizza crust. Most of my breads take overnight, because if you do that there's no need to knead! Thanks for the opportunity to post, Carole.
ReplyDeleteI made this brown ale stew seven years ago, and have revisited it several times since. Excellent. Thanks so much, Carole.
ReplyDeleteHi Carole...thanks for hosting!! :) Have a great weekend!

I love the slow cooker! I like that I can cook something while I homeschool my daughter, and I don't have to stop schooling repeatedly so I can stir! : )
ReplyDeleteI'm sharing a week of Slow Cooker Soups - all Vegan and most GF, too.
Love slow food.
ReplyDeleteOoops, I accidentally entered my link twice. Apologies.
DeleteNo worries, I'll sort it
DeleteAh rubbish! I submitted a berry trifle recipe that takes a day to cook/prepare but it's not a slow cooker recipe - sorry, I completely misunderstood the brief until I started reading comments! Sorry!!!
ReplyDeleteAlex, your dish fits the bill just fine, thanks!
DeleteNice theme! I love the literal take on the meaning of slow food here. Happy weekend, Carole :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the PERFECT theme for this week! I have been using my crock-pot several times a week! I need more amazing recipes!! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteGreat topic! Between barbecue, crock-potting, and sous vide, I love cooking slow!
ReplyDeleteI'm not big on the slow cooker, but I am a huge fan of slow cooked foods--oven or stove top. Great theme, Carole. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love my slow cooker. I frequently fill it up the night before and place it in the refrigerator overnight. Next morning I pull it out and set it to cook for 10-12 hours on the lowest setting. When I get home from work, the kitchen is filled with an amazing aroma, and I get to sit down to a great pot of stew or soup.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the party Carole~ Lynn @ Turnips 2 Tangerines
ReplyDeleteI'm not very patient when it comes to cooking, but I LOVE making things ahead of time with my crock pot...I just have to remember to do it more! I haven't done anything with it since the Pumpkin Chili (that I just linked up) I made back in November! Ha! Thanks so much for the invite!
ReplyDeleteI added my Crock Pot Chili! Thought it would be a good edition for the super bowl!
ReplyDeleteIs my dish fit your bill? If not please do what ever you want. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI could go for a little summer here--we've been below zero here most nights past week (that's Fahrenheit folks, not Celsius so it's COLD LOL). Send some above the equator Carole!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if the last comment went thru--but send some of that NZ summer above the equator Carole LOL
ReplyDeleteHello! This is my first time here =) I love my slow cooker, there's just so many different things you can do with it, and it makes meals a breeze!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a ton of slow cooker meals (I usually just use it for roasting chickens) so I added a home made pasta dish because it takes forever to hand make all the raviolis. That counts right?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the party! Love the flavor of slow cook foods. I also like those long cold or raining days, staying home and cooking all day. Great Food on Fridays!
ReplyDeletethere is a "slow Food" movement - that is almost all i cook! Of course, the entire state of Texas would have tp be included also!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the party! I have quite a few good ones I'm linking up this week! Hope to see you over at DDT again soon! <3
ReplyDeleteI missed adding my recipes for last week's Slow Cook foods, but I'm here now and added a couple of my favorites.
