The
subject of this Food on Friday may
not suit everyone. I, for one, do not
like anchovies on pizza – but they add a lovely flavour when cooked with
lamb. And I don't eat sardines often
although my better half will scoff them straight from the tin any chance he
gets. So I am looking forward to seeing all the
ways you use them in your cooking.
Anchovies and sardines go well with (according
to Stephanie Alexander):

To
link in, just pop your name and the name of the dish into the first box and
paste the url for your post into the second one – using Mr Linky below.
I'm
not into setting rules for the link up, but part of the point is for you to
check out each other's dishes. To make
it easy for you to choose which to visit, I will be pinning the links to this Pinboard. I have noticed that quite a few people now
choose to follow each new Pinboard so that they are kept up to date. But it will work just as well if you just
click through to check out the state of play.
Have
a great "fishy" time!
Hi Carole, I found I actually liked sardines after making this dish and I ADORE anchovies!!

Hi, Carole. I love anchovies in Caesar dressing and anchovy paste in pasta sauces. Thanks for hosting this party!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely subject for a linky! Have added an absolute favourite dish of both mine and the family cat!!

Hi, Carole,
ReplyDeleteMy Ma's recipe for stuffed artichokes is one of those where the anchovies just add a bit of flavour. Hope you like it.
Margaret
I've posted a story about sardines, with a link to an excellent recipe. I also am a big fan of the anchovy, which lends a fine umami-pong to steak sauces and even pizza. Both of these fish are underappreciated by the uninitiated!
ReplyDeleteMmmm...salty little fishes! Love 'em. Thanks for the invite!
ReplyDeleteOops! I don't think I entered my link correctly. Anyway, #15 (Kath) will take you to my Massaged Kale Salad. It's terrific and it's the anchovy paste that makes it so special.
ReplyDeleteHi Carole: Thanks for the link invite!
ReplyDeleteHiya Carole! Thanks for the tipoff - I've brought you just two recipes today, a Chicken Caesar Salad and Rose Prince's recipe for a chicken liver pate with a difference. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm Italian we love anchovy. It is so many dishes that people don't even realize that it is in... a little bit can be used as a flavor enhancer.
ReplyDeleteHey Carole. I've linked my Roman Summer Salad. I love using anchovies for seasoning. They add a deep savouriness. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteMy son digs anchovies! Thank you for the roundup, Carole!
ReplyDeleteDone! Although both recipes don't use the humble anchovy as the hero - they do feature.
ReplyDeleteLove anchovies, what a great theme Carole ;) ~ All are posting such delicious recipes!
ReplyDeletethanks for this party...I linked up 2 recipes from Sri Lankan cuisine...
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!!
I adore anchovies, but with any pungent ingredient like anchovies, blue cheese, parmesan, the cheap stuff usually stinks and is horrid. But get good quality anchovies, blue cheese, parmesan and we're in business!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any recipes to share this week but I have visited some links and I am definitely going to try a few of the recipes! Lynn @ Turnips 2 Tangerines
ReplyDeleteI've shared another Burmese recipe. Hope you and your readers enjoy it.

Hi Carole. This is actually a review I did with Triscuits, but it includes the Sardines with Red & Yellow peppers that I created for this review. Hope you like it. We love sardines and eat them this way all the time in a sandwich or with toast.
ReplyDeleteThanks I love anchovies.
ReplyDeleteCarole,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for a great Food on Friday topic!
I was on the road earlier, but better late than never. I'm sorry you don't care for anchovies on pizza--my brothers, my dad, and I all do, so a visit home is not complete without an anchovy pizza surrounded by fellow anchovy lovers. (Mom politely ignores us).
I'm linking up My Deployment Pizza--the pizza that is just for me, everything that I like, how I treat myself a little while my spouse is deployed. It starts with a spinach crust, topped with artichoke antipasti, then fontina cheese and the anchovies.
Best served with Old Vine Zinfandel, but your deployment wine choice may vary.
Thanks so much for hosting!
Hi, Carole
ReplyDeleteI love anchovies! Recently I rediscovered sardines and I especially like the ones that are lightly smoked.. yum!
Hi Carole, thanks for your kind invitation. I have linked Easy Long Beans Sardine Curry to Food on Friday. Have a nice day :)
ReplyDeleteHi Carole, I think I had accidentally enter my submission twice. Have tried to delete one of it but to no avail. So sorry for the error. Pls help me to delete one of the entries. My thousand apologies :(

ReplyDeleteWe love fresh anchovies and sardines in Greece, so have a few recipes to share.
ReplyDeleteHi Carole, here are two sardines receipes from Croatia; fried and marinated sardines, both taste very well and not so hard to make :)
ReplyDeleteSee you next time!
Hi carole.. thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. i have linked the fried anchovies, but then i accidentally added another entry with my name instead of the dish, so please do delete that :)
ReplyDeletethanks a bunch
Nisha
Thanks for the invitation to link up. I usually don't do linky parties, but I like the idea of collected anchovies recipe. =) Now since I am not used doing that, I ended up adding my name instead of the dish name. lol I tried to fix it, not sure if it worked. ^.^
ReplyDeleteThis was a hard one. I love anchovies, the spouse hates them. So they have to be hidden. Recipes just aren't the same if you omit.
ReplyDeletei <3 sardines and anchovies
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I've posted my red sauce recipe on the links before...but it's the only recipe I've blogged that uses anchovies! And it's fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteI just posted my recipe, I found on the web and tweaked a bit. It doesn't feature anchovies but uses them in a way that really makes the overall dish taste wonderful. Happy Friday everyone!
ReplyDeletePerfect timing! Anna, the lovely young lady from Catalonia who introduced us to Escalivada last summer is back visiting my sister and her family. Love this opportunity to showcase this traditional recipe.

Thanks for hosting, linked to the post!
ReplyDeleteHi, also linked up with an anchovy recipe after linking up with the sardine recipe. Thank you for hosting! I accidentally linked up just to my blog the first time, if you can erase that.
ReplyDeleteOh no!
ReplyDeleteI make a delicious puttanesca with anchovies and capers. It's the only dish I use them in but it's always so incredible.
I just realized I don't have it posted on my blog at all, though! Oops!
Thanks for the heads up! Have linked my sardine pate. Hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do.
